REQUEST FOR COMMENTS ON EXTENSION AT NIAGARA FALLS AIRPORT

Notice is hereby given that a Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) has been prepared to evaluate the potential environmental impacts resulting from the Taxiway D Realignment and Extension Project at Niagara Falls International Airport (IAG). All the proposed improvements are located on existing airport property and involve the following: realignment / reconstruction of Taxiway D and abandonment and removal of the remaining segment; and abandonment and removal of Taxiway D1 and unused pavement section off of Runway 28R. The project would ensure the taxiway system at IAG is following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards and would enhance safety and airfield access for current users. This DEA has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), FAA Order 5050.4B - Airport Environmental Handbook, FAA Order 1050.1F - Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures and related statutes and orders.

The document is available for review during a 15-day comment period at the following location, during normal business hours: Niagara Falls International Airport Passenger Terminal - Airport Manager’s Office 2035 Niagara Falls Blvd. Niagara Falls, NY 14304.

The document is also available for review on the Niagara Falls International Airport website at the following address: https://nfta.com/about/public-information-center/iag-taxiway-d-realignment-and-extension-draft-environmental

https://nfta.com/about/public-information-center/notice-availability-iag-taxiway-d-realignment-and-extension-draft

Written comments on the DEA should be sent to either of the following addresses: NiagaraFallsTxyEA@mjinc.com or Maresa Miller McFarland Johnson, Inc. 49 Court Street, Suite 240 Binghamton, NY 13901.

Comments received on the DEA in writing on or before the close of business on May 9, 2025, will be considered and addressed in the Final Environmental Assessment (FEA) for the proposed improvements. Based on a review of the FEA, the FAA will determine the significance of potential impacts and either issue a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or require a more detailed study
