New Terminal Initiative

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday, November 26, 2007 to accept a $26.7 million bid from the Walter S. Johnson Building Co. Inc. of Niagara Falls, NY, to construct a new passenger terminal at the Niagara Falls International Airport.

The 69,430-square-foot, two-gate facility will accommodate near term demand without excess capacity. The state-of-the-art design will provide for efficient, customer friendly passenger processing, two level layout for jet bridge boarding, food/beverage concessions, federal inspection station and in-line baggage screening.

The creative design of the new terminal reflects the grandeur of the Niagara community, promoting a positive "Gateway Image" to the region.

Construction of the new facility has begun and is targeted to be completed in July 2009.
